Marlee Breakstone
Senior Policy Manager

Marlee Breakstone (she/her) was born and raised in Connecticut but has always dreamed of calling Washington, DC home. She graduated from the University of Michigan with a major in reproductive health policy and minors in history and women’s studies. After college, she worked both at nonprofits and on campaigns to elect progressive candidates. Most recently, Marlee worked in the reproductive health, rights and justice movement at an organization called Catholics for Choice. Driven by her values and her commitment to social and reproductive justice, Marlee is thrilled to join the team at Generation Hope and help the organization grow its impact in the policy and advocacy space as the organization’s first Senior Policy Manager. Outside of work, Marlee can be found visiting local thrift shops, doing puzzles or exploring DC with her rescue dog, Ruthie (RBG).

Quote:

“Our problem stems from our acceptance of this filthy, rotten system.” - Doris Day

Why I chose this quote:

I love this quote because it describes the exact reason why I choose to do policy work. Without effective policy and advocacy work centered around storytelling, we can’t dismantle the filthy, rotten systems that exist in our society and make strides towards a more just and equitable future for all. All people deserve respect and the freedom to make their own decisions in life.
