Lindsey Cross
Director of New Orleans Programming

Lindsey comes to Generation Hope after working for 18 years as a public school educator - first as a classroom teacher, then as an instructional coach, assistant principal and principal. Her work with elementary, middle and high school students has instilled in Lindsey a deep belief in the limitless potential of young people - and the need for strong systems and caring adults to nourish their growth and foster their success. She was thrilled to learn Generation Hope was coming to her home community of New Orleans and joined staff first as a contractor, charged with recruiting the inaugural NOLA cohort of Scholars and mentors. Lindsey graduated from Fordham University with a degree in English. She lives with her fiance, daughter and goddaughter (and three cats and one dog!) and loves to bake cinnamon rolls and Detroit deep dish pizzas.

Quote:

"For there is always light/ If only we're brave enough to see it/ If only we're brave enough to be it." - Amanda Gorman

Why I chose this quote:

I believe, as bell hooks wrote, "the light of love is always in us" and that the path to true liberation - not just for individuals but for communities and for the world - starts with discovering and igniting our own light and helping others discover and ignite their own light. Self and community care are available to us - and are necessary for a free and just world.
