Jack and Jill of America Supports Hope Conference
Thanks to a $5,000 grant from The Jack and Jill of America Foundation, Generation Hope was able to provide a day-long intensive training for current Scholars and high school teen parents from across the region.
The Hope Conference is a wonderful opportunity for our Scholars to hear from experts in the community on topics such as financial literacy, leadership, and career preparedness. Held at the University of Maryland, the Conference focuses on helping young parents excel in college and beyond. Additionally, we bring in expecting or parenting high school students from across the Washington, D.C. metro area to delve deeper into the college admissions process. Experts on topics such as financial aid, college essay writing, and campus life are on hand to equip them with information that they may not have access to otherwise.
Thanks to the generosity of The Jack and Jill of America Foundation, Generation Hope hosted a successful Hope Conference on June 29, 2013 at the Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center.
As one high school attendee said:
“Going to this conference and having this experience was a chance of a lifetime. I went over all of the information I received, and I’m really excited about pursuing college. I look forward to coming to all the other events that have been planned.”
